Presale Opening June 1 at East Garrison

Save the date! After years in the making, stemming from a unique vision and broad-based community support, East Garrison is ready to open its doors to prospective homebuyers. Saturday, June 1 marks the Presale Opening of this new 244-acre master-planned community situated on the historic Fort Ord Army Base in Monterey County.

The Presale Opening serves as the first opportunity to purchase a new home at East Garrison. Through a highly collaborative community effort, East Garrison has been carefully planned to function as an all-inclusive village with home ownership options for a variety of lifestyles and budgets. Once complete, it is expected to feature 1,400 new homes, a 65,000 square foot historic arts district, a 34,000 square foot mixed-use town center, a library, parks, public safety stations and easy access to public transportation.

On June 1st, interested buyers will have the opportunity to choose from three unique single-family product types designed by Benchmark Communities, a subsidiary of San Jose-based homebuilder and land developer UCP, LLC. Benchmark Communities’ single-family product types, which offer 11 different floor plan designs to match a variety of lifestyle preferences, include:

  • Monarch , comprised of approximately 1,600 – 1,900 square feet of living space offering up to four bedrooms and three bathrooms;
  • Artisan , comprised of approximately 1,700 – 2,600 square feet of living space offering up to five bedrooms and four bathrooms; and
  • Heritage , comprised of approximately 2,100 – 3,650 square feet of living space offering up to six bedrooms and four bathrooms.

After acquiring the project in 2009, the Presale Opening marks another important step towards UCP’s promise to deliver a unique mixed-use community for the future, while honoring the history-rich soil East Garrison is built upon. UCP and Benchmark Communities anticipate move-in ready homes by the end of the year.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony to Remember

On Thursday, May 9, East Garrison celebrated the initial phase of construction on its first single-family homes with an onsite groundbreaking ceremony. Guests and local media from across the Bay Area came together to welcome East Garrison to Monterey County.

Paying tribute to the land that once served Fort Ord, the event began with a traditional Veterans Color Guard Ceremony and was followed by speeches from UCP and Benchmark Communities’ executives Dustin Bogue and Jim Fletcher and Fifth District Supervisor Dave Potter. Each commemorated the legacy of Fort Ord’s past while highlighting how East Garrison will serve residents and the local community for years to come.

To conclude the groundbreaking, Reverend Don Hammond led a ceremonial blessing of East Garrison, followed by a refreshing lunch reception and interaction among guests.

The groundbreaking aimed to educate guests about all East Garrison has to offer as the community approaches its Presale Opening June 1.
