Breaking Ground at East Garrison
This past Thursday, groundbreaking at East Garrison got underway! This is the first phase of construction on the 244-acre master-planned community, which will offer a wide variety of housing options on the grounds of historic Fort Ord.
Union Community Partners (UCP) CEO Dustin Bogue, along with the fifth district supervisor, Dave Potter, delivered addresses to commemorate the occasion.
Mr. Bogue was quoted saying, “We are excited that our vision for this unique and truly comprehensive community is beginning to come to life with the first phase of development underway, we have begun to lay the foundation for a dynamic and inviting community that will serve residents for years to come while preserving the legacy of East Garrison’s past.”
At completion, East Garrison is expected to include 1,400 new homes. The project will offer prospective buyers three unique single-family product types, including single-family homes, townhomes and apartments, which will be built in the first phase of construction. Homebuyers will have eleven different floor plans to choose from in total. The historical aspects of this landmark community will also be preserved and incorporated into the master plan with 65,000 square feet dedicated to the historic arts district. In addition, 34,000 square feet will be set aside for a mixed-use town center that will boast a library, parks, public safety stations and easy access to public transportation.
The homes to be built in this first phase of construction are expected to be available for pre-sale in June.
We are so excited about breaking ground on this new community and we can’t wait to see the construction progress in the months ahead!
